Until the End
Until the End
-
My prayers once asked for better days,
for easy tasks and simple ways.
My shoulders complained of burden’s load,
and feet would ask for paven road.
-
I did not run when I could walk,
and listen not when I could talk.
Many are those who never hear
a simple whisper of one so dear.
-
Heart and soul cannot be seen
when locked is that which lies within.
Ease and comforts seem to fill,
but great the man who walks uphill.
-
A current takes the well-worn train
and fastest ship will fill her sail.
But who will find where the stream begins
if the current battles and always wins?
-
Time and wisdom have been my friend,
heart is full at journey’s end.
Where once I asked for ease of way,
now it is for strength I pray.
-
I do not want an untried sword
as such, unfit to serve my Lord.
Muscle soft and tendon frail
when taxed and stressed will surely fail.
-
There is no way I’ll ever see
the kind of man I want to be;
If never once I take a stand
against the odds I fill my hand.
-
Heir to light, his birthright known,
cannot be had till man full-grown.
How will I begin to grow
if never tested that which I know?
-
Destiny holds so much in store,
some want ease; I search for more.
Some will stand when many fall,
until the end, I will stand tall.
