Before It All
Before It All
I come to learn of ways of war;
my blade unscathed in blood and gore.
My weapon sheathed and never drawn
Till now, the day of the seventh dawn.
To each it’s season, to all his time;
I’ve waited long, now cometh mine.
The promise made to find my friend;
I’ll search through time till journey’s end.
I know not how to find you now,
My wisdom small; I still must grow.
But as I said in the Time before,
I will return, I’ll find your door.
I’ve a light to guide, as so few do;
a fire of power which none subdue.
Yet my friend, you have within,
the power to let this spark begin.
Will you know me when I come to call?
We were friends once, before it all.
I pray you’ll see and know I care,
That you’ll recognize the ring I wear.
I’ve given life and all to Him,
whose mercy great, yet justice grim.
You chose His side, though you know it not,
In this earthly sphere you must not be caught.
Yet, if such the case may be;
Haze and darkness make it hard to see,
If you’ll but take the hand I give,
I’ll show you light that you may live.
If chains of darkness encircle thee,
This power of fire shall make you free.
Accept His truth; you’ve known it so.
Let this spark within you grow.
I’ve fought my way through script and lore,
I have found the only door.
The path is narrow to this simple gate;
Join me now, the time is late.
I’ll carry you if such I must;
I know I can, for strength I trust.
Falter in step, but never give in;
If we lose our way, the Dark One will win.
You must join me now in the stalwart line,
Our fate lies here, both yours and mine.
Will you know me when I come to call?
We were friends once, before it all.
