A Promise Kept
A Promise Kept
-
My comrades wait with tearful eye, their stature great on blood-red sky.
With weapons won, an edge honed fine, their ranks unfilled as I search for mine.
-
The rebel gone, their service found; temperance due, and glory round.
My hand gains strength as light enfolds; Excalibur’s freedom to trust I hold.
-
My search is end; the hilt is deep in rusty gore. Eyes blind from sleep I search for more.
To gain my sight and take my place in glory’s right.
-
I tense and strain, my grip unsure; a man-size hilt doth call for more
Than hands untried in ways of war; I seek this test, so much in store.
-
To all creation, there comes a time; the promise made, I wait for mine.
The path I seek, I’ve thought of well; as to my mettle, but time will tell.
-
My hands return to the task laid out, thews contract, with a might shout
The blade is drawn from the stone once bound. A promise kept; my weapon found.
I join my brethren in the bloody fray; Armageddon’s fury in a single day.
The Counsel called when time was young; a plan to follow, led by the Son.
-
Oh, great the thought of such a cause! Infinities own unshaken laws,
Proclaim the pledge we made to him; that truth and light may never dim.
